  1. That's another book I never read... Ever been to church? Think of all the things people call Jesus. Lamb of God...why was he the lamb? What kind of immage did a lamb give to people around Jesus? That should point you in the right direction.
  2. It's a long time since I read the book, and I can't find my copy, but I'm sure that animal imagery would be using animals to describe people, like "that old fox, Robespierre.",. so that Robespierre is seen as being as cunning as a fox. Hope this helps.
  3. Sometimes authors compare characters to animals to give us some insight into their true nature, and what they might be capable of. If someone were deceptive and sneaky, they might be associated with a fox -- a woman might wear a silver broach shaped like a fox, or a fox fur coat, and later in the book she might steal valuable evidence and blackmail someone. In Agatha Christie's "Witness for the Prosecution," the defendant on trial for murder is one Leonard Vole; it suggests he is innocent and wrongly accused, if this definition is correct: "small, mouse-like rodents that are generally darker in color and have shorter tails than mice. The meadow vole is a common prey species for foxes ..." Ironically, he turns out to be guilty. Some other cliches in this field of imagery: a warrior with an eagle on his shield/armor; a king with the head of a lion mounted on his wall; a woman with a preoccupation with cats (Catwoman); a big, burly, slow-moving man with a nickname like "Bear"; etc.
