Where in New York City can I leave my turtle?
I have a turtle & I've had her for nearly 8 years now. But I feel like she's getting so big & I don't have enough room in the apartment for her. Do you know anywhere in New York City where I can leave her and know for sure that she's safe? Thanks!

- you can try to put her up for adoption on Craigslist . It might be fun to leave her in a pond in a local park. Down the sewer for some mutant ninja turtle action. joke. twas a joke.. damn.
- There's a lot of ponds and lakes you can put her in, ofcourse you won't be sure she's safe. You can bring her to a pet shop, give her to a turtle rescue, or put her up for adoption on craigslist.
- Don't release her into a pond or lake..she won't survive. She has become dependent on humans for food and won't be able to find food on her own. She also has no natural fear of predators. Setting her free into the wild is a definite death sentence. Try craigslist, the local newspaper or SPCA.
- there is an ASPCA here in the upper east side on 93rd street and 3rd ave i think you can always go there and sign her over
- DO NOT RELEASE THE TURTLE! Here is what would happen if you release your turtle into the wild: -If they are not native to the area, they could become established pests and disrupt the ecosystem, as has happened with red-eared sliders throughout the world. -If they ARE native to the area, genetic pollution would occur when they breed with local specimens. -They could introduce diseases to the local turtles -They may not survive the new habitat Releasing captive reptiles into the wild has caused problems throughout the world, yet people still continue to do it. Why? Ignorance, I guess. DO NOT RELEASE THE TURTLE! Contact your local Herp Society, it most likely has an adoption program.
- do not release the turtle! she wont survive. for many reasons but i think that it might get too cold also. put her up for adoption on craigslist! ........i want her a lot, but i live in Florida :(
